Frederick II of Prussia

1712–1786

Frederick inherited a drilled Prussian army and spent most of his reign using it. In the Seven Years’ War he fought at Rossbach and Leuthen within a month of each other, each time against a larger coalition army. His own writings on war sat alongside a court that cultivated French letters.
