Georgy Zhukov

1896–1974

Zhukov was a Soviet staff officer who became one of Stalin’s principal field commanders. He is associated with the defence of Leningrad and Moscow, with the Stalingrad counter-offensive, with Kursk, and with the assault on Berlin. After the war he was alternately promoted and pushed aside.
